About the Capitola Branch Library Friends Chapter
Join our Capitola Branch Library Friends Chapter! We are building a group of library supporters focused on advocacy, fundraising, volunteering and ensuring the best new branch possible! We are a chapter of the Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries.
Friends of the Capitola Branch Library Meetings:

The Friends of the Capitola Library meet quarterly in January, April, July, and October on the third Saturday of the month.

Who: Everyone interested in the Capitola Library
Expect: Pastries, bring your own beverage
Our agenda is different for each meeting. Some examples of topics we have discussed can be seen in our meeting notes below. Currently we are interested in getting updates on the progress of our major project: installing solar panels and batteries at the library. We often make decisions about how to use some of the funds we have earned at our bookstore in the mall to enhance the Capitola Library and the Santa Cruz Public Libraries in general.

Friends of the Capitola Branch Library Bookstore . . . An Announcement
As of March 3, 2026, we will stop soliciting book donations. On 3/31/26, the Friends of the Capitola Library will no longer be operating a bookstore in the Capitola mall.
We are grateful to have been a presence in the Mall for eight years. During that time, we have offered bookstore funds to support the Santa Cruz Public Libraries. We paid more than $500,000 for solar panels and storage batteries for the Capitola Library, saving the library system over $30,000 annually in PG&E fees. More recently, we asked the FSCPL board to release $250,000 of our earnings to contribute to the Downtown Library capital campaign.
We thank our generous book donors, our customers, and the Capitola Mall management for helping us to provide the bookstore to our community. Words fail to fully express our gratitude for the generosity that has been shown to us.
We will remain open on our regular schedule through March 31, 2026. Please come visit us.

Where: Our store is located between the Children’s Museum of Discovery and the ramp down toward the fountain.
Masks and social distancing are recommended but not required at this time.
